It's so shiny!!

Bling is everything in Korea. Little girls walk around with bright, sparkling headbands. Old women wear bows and shiny pins and even the poodles get their nails painted and their ears dyed pink.
Poor pink puppy.
There are a lot of shops that can be identified as the "mothership" of bling. On Geoje island, my two favourites are "Best Line" and "CNA". Their earrings, hairbands and necklaces are inexpensive and they have a wide variety. But as far as I'm concerned the best place to shop for bling, is in Busan. Nampodong has quite a few shops that sell earrings for as little as 1,000 won per pair. The rings go for as little as 7,000 won and the shops are overflowing with accessories of every shape and colour.

I've already sent a big bag full of earrings home. Studs, rings, flowers, animals, the Eiffel tower... All of those bought for the same amount as a bottle of water. And I will be buying more before I go home.

Ski-bling
No really, ski BLING.
One of the funniest things is that you see very few school girls with pierced ears, yet their male counterparts (some as young as 8years old) walk around with studs in their ears. It's even more entertaining when the studs are fake diamonds that glisten in the morning sun.

Another favourite is the ever present "man-bag". I've seen so many guys carrying their girlfriends' massive handbags around and have to myself: What a good boyfriend! Only to realize a few minutes later that the big bag slung, over his shoulder, was indeed his own and the little purse, in his hand, belonged to his girlfriend.

And always the tights!
It is a very important ingredient of Korean fashion: it needs to twinkle. It needs to sparkle. It needs to be shiny! The number 1 rule of Korean fashion: Bling is the new black!
