(Sm)All-things Sundays: I didn't feel like it.

By now it is pretty obvious that I like running. What is less obvious is that, even though I love it, I suffer every time I do it.

I've never been fit and for me the training process is a slow and painful one. The feeling of victory and the way in which running clears my head, is extremely rewarding and that is why I keep pushing through.

When you use the Couch to 5k- running plan, you run a certain amount of time every week and up your time the next week. I am currently on my 2nd week of training on week 4.

This week consists of the following: Walk for 5 minutes, run for 3minutes, walk for 90seconds, run for 5 minutes, walk for 2.30 minutes. Repeat and cool down with a 5 minute walk.

Today it was stunning outside, so I went to the Samsung track for a bit of a run. A little girl and her family were having a picnic and she was riding her bike. She rode in the opposite direction of my run, so we met each other quite a few times. Then she let her mom ride the bike for a few minutes. While I was busy with my second 3 minutes run, she got her bike back and rode behind me. As I started walking for my 90 second break, I noticed her talking to me (I had my earphones in my ears.) She was asking me if I liked running.

We had a short, 90 second conversation, after which I began my last 5 minute run. I was pushing myself very hard. It was hard to breathe and it hurt every time my feet hit the concrete. I was very close to quitting, but this little 11-year old was biking right next to me and cheering me on all the way. So I kept going. At the end of it (as I was bent over and ready to crawl back to my scooter) she turned around and said: "My name is Lee Da Eun. Nice to meet you", and pedalled back to where her family was enjoying their sandwiches. And I drove home smiling.
