The Lord is my shepherd. I shall not want...

...NO! That's just it. There is no "Dot-dot-dot." There is no "fill in the blank." There is a full-stop. That's it. The Bible doesn't say "The Lord is my shepherd. I shall not want a roof over my head." (But I won't have enough to eat.) It doesn't say "The Lord is my shepherd. I shall not want a job." (But I will be friendless) It doesn't say anything else. It says "I.SHALL.NOT.WANT." <-- FULL-STOP. No ifs, buts or maybes.

I took a giant leap of faith when I decided to move to Cape Town. It has been an interesting journey. Was it my best decision ever? Was it God's will for me to be here? Were my motives purely because I've always wanted to live here? I don't know. What I do know is this: Not one night did I have to sleep in my car or on the street. Not one morning did I wake up and wonder where my food for the day will come from. Not one second did I doubt that I would be okay and that I would make it out of this adventure, alive and stronger.

And now, as I am moving into a new season with new needs and more reasons to start worrying, I'm holding on to those age-old words  of Psalm 23.
My apartment lease is up at the end of October. Where will I find affordable accommodation? "The Lord is my shepherd. I shall not want."
The petrol price is up with 71c. I'm barely getting by as it is!  "The Lord is my shepherd. I shall not want."
How am I going to make friends in this big city? "The Lord is my shepherd. I shall not want."
A drunk driver wrote off my car. I can't afford a new one! "The Lord is my shepherd. I shall not want."

This is how I build my testimony. My life is a lot of things, but it sure is not boring.

I shall not want. I shall not want. I shall NOT want.
